Bad Joke ~

Three blondes were fishing along side a river bank one summer day
A policeman came by and asked if he could see there fishing licenses.
They replied that they weren’t actually fishing as they had magnets on the end of their line instead of hooks because they were gathering debris from the bottom of the river.
The policeman asked if he they could raise their rods so he would be able to see if they were telling an outrageous story.
When they showed him the magnets he shrugged his shoulders and wished them luck in disbelief.
The women laughed as he walked away talking amongst themselves about what an idiot he was….didn’t he know they were fishing for Steelhead…..

Ba da boom!!!!!!

Every Day in May Challenge….”Tying”

Every Day In May….challenge 4 Tying

I wish I could say I was a brilliant fly tyer, as I see the excellent creators at fly tying expos, or on the web. Well, as they say ‘practice makes….’  Well it helps.

I took a fly tying class via a gift I got from a dear friend and I have attempted to tie many different flies. I truly thought it would be helpful in many ways…

  • Pass the time away during the winter months
  • Cheaper than buying flies at the local fly shop at 2.95-4.00 per fly and then promptly losing them because of a poorly tied knot or in the trees overhead.
  • I like to create new things…I can say I am fairly good at jewelry making etc, so how hard could assembling a fly be?

Well, so far me, it is a bit difficult, but most enjoyable. I have a hard time adding the wings, or hackle. My right hand shakes a bunch and my eyesight isn’t as good as it once was. I feel the perfection side of me coming out, when I look at my finished product vs. what I see on the web or in one of my books….

BUT!!!! I have caught fish on my own flies. Wow what a cool feeling that is. An extra bonus to add to an already great experience of being out there.

Tomorrow’s Challenge Word: Fishing
