Annual Damsel Trip

There is something magical when a
group of ladies get together and wave the rod, catch fish and share life stories.
The Damsel Flies get together every summer and get guides to take us down the McKenzie River Fly Fishing. In the morning we keep everything we catch and the guides clean and cook them up for a shoreline lunch along with salads and desserts us ladies brought.
This year was my third year going and was the best so far. We had a total of 12 women and 6 guides. Half of them are new to our group so meeting new friends was wonderful. The weather was wonderful and the fishing-AMAZING.
I had great success in the morning on a dry fly, then mid morning I switched to an emerging pattern and had even more success. Lori my fishing partner in the morning had never fly fishes before. She caught the first fish of the boat. She moved here from Texas and loved being out on the crystal clear river.
After lunch- bellies full, bladders emptied we switched boats and partners. I was lucky to get Roe as a boat buddy. Her and I have gotten to know each other over the last two years and we share many interests to include volleyball. She is super funny. I switched to a two fly rig and only caught one in the afternoon. But it was nice just to sit and drift down the river and feel the warm breeze blowing off the river.

The doctor asked me to stay down, but I am thankful I am not a good listener sometimes.
