Safety Wading

I have had my share of trips, slips and falls on the river or even heading down to the river. Especially when I first started fly fishing. Any beginner, intermediate or advanced fly fisher will experience this time to time.
I was taught slow and easy, so since I started following this advice my spills have decreased. But my water depth perception is still off…
So today I found a great solution. Actually I am super excited to try it out. From Eddie Bauer- a collapsible walking stick. It had a great grip along with a compass on the top. And printed on the metal is measurement. Probably used for snow depth but can use it in the water. It has a steel tip or even a rubber tip at the end so you can chose whichever works best for your need.
I am going to the Metolius River in the end of the month for our final outting of the season with my CFF so I will test it out then.
