Gourmet Lunch

Well not truly but if was delicious and healthy. My oldest daughter is doing WW and has been experimenting some different recipes on me.
About a month ago she made me a ground turkey dish topped with a delicious cream sort of gravy that had peas and corn.
Then for my birthday she made me Putanesca and for an appetizer she had stuffed cherry tomatoes with a creamy feta filling.
And then on Saturday she came up with the great idea to cook for the family that came for a visit. We went grocery shopping and then I helped her prepare ground chicken breast burgers that were served in a pita bread we got at Trader Joes with a yogurt dill dressing, roasted red peppers, olives and red onion. As she prepared the dressing which resembled Maste Khiar which is yogurt and cucumber salad, I prepared the ground chicken with a mixture of spices, fresh dill, feta cheese crumbles and a touch of olive oil. After you make up the patties you place them in the oven for about five minutes each side.
Now I must admittedly say, that I never replaced ground beef for ground chicken or turkey ever as she was growing up under my roof. I actually enjoy it very much. Her recipes are very tasty and not high in calories. It was served with grapes and for dessert…. Well we made brownies and mini pumpkin doughnuts with maple glaze that were yummy. This dessert made up for the calories saved on the chicken burgers. And of course no surprise that there was no left overs.

  1. This sounds great! And a child that cooks for you! How sweet! My son has just started taking cooking classes, and he is practicing on us, which has made us very happy.
