Tonight at the Damsel meeting one key person was missing. My dear friend, the First Lady I ever fly fished with. The life of the ladies, the glue to our club, the most down to earth lady.
She found out Monday she has lung cancer. When the news was given to our club my heart just sank. My head dropped low and I said a prayer. Even as I write this I feel so saddened by this news.
Her husband had just sold his business in November and I know she was ever so excited because they had many fly fishing trips planned. They loved to fish together.
She is a strong lady- one of the strongest I have ever been blessed to know. She has taught me so very much this last three years. She even had the patience to teach my girls a few times. I know – I hope she will be ok, but the news threw me back a bit.
It was a somber planing meeting but we did get a few trips planned for the upcoming year. We also all planned to be there for her as much as she has all been with us. Others more fortunate to have known her for longer than I.
Prayers to you Darlene.
